Moscow Concert A Great Success

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 9:49 PM

On September 27th a concert was given in Moscow, Russia featuring the music of eight New York Composers Circle members. The concert was part of a an exchange with Anton Rovner and several other Russian composers. The concert in Moscow featured the music of Peter Kelsh, Christopher Sahar, David Picton, Eric Heilner, Dana Dimitri Richardson, Timothy Lee Miller, and Hubert Howe of the New York Composers Circle. Due to the short turnaround of time between agreeing to the exchange and the actual concert date, not to mention the lengthy process of attaining visas for Americans traveling to Russia, none of the composers involved in the September concert were able to attend the concert. However, the concert in Moscow was considered a great success, and recordings and video of the performances back up the claim (to be posted soon).

The reciprocal concert in New York will be held on March 24, 2020, at Marc A. Scorca Hall at the National Opera Center and will include the music of Russian composers Rushaniya Nizamutdinova, Anton Rovner, Mark Belodubrovsky, Rushaniya Nizamutdinova. The performing ensemble was the 20th Century Ensemble, which includes Maria Khodina, violin, Vyacheslav Grebennikov, viola, Nadezhda Grebennikova, cello, Elizaveta Danilina, piano, Sayaka Takahashi, piano, and Olesya Rostovskaya, organ.

Below are a few photos from the event, including the playbill for the concert.
