Happy New Year to all!

Mozart: Modernist     Three concerts:

I. Friday February 15, 2019

II. Friday March 29

III. Friday April 26

Celebrating her return to public ensemble performance following traumatic wrist surgery in 2007, 81 year-old pianist Nancy Garniez announces “Mozart: Modernist,” a series of three events highlighting Mozart's vocal approach to the colorful chromaticism of the newly-invented piano, and paying tribute to its influence on Brahms.

She will be joined by musicians known for their commitment to contemporary music: violinist Gregor Kitzis, violist Arthur Dibble; cellist Dave Eggar; and by baritone Ricardo Rivera.

The series reflects insights gleaned from Tonal Refraction, Ms. Garniez's visualization of the activity of listening as experienced pre-consciously, that is, requiring no special training. Tonal Refraction arose out of Ms. Garniez's vivid childhood response to sounds by Mozart.

The series will take place at Tenri Institute, 34A West 13th St. at 8 p.m.

Seating is limited. Tickets, are $40, $100 for the series; students and seniors half-price, and are available only in advance at https://www.artful.ly/tonal-refraction/store/events
